Empire Passes & More
What is an Empire Pass?
An Empire Pass allows you to access any NY state park for free! You will not need to pay the parking fee to access parks such as Hamlin Beach, Letchworth, Silver Lake, Oak Orchard State Marine Park, and much more! Visit https://parks.ny.gov/admission/ to learn more about the pass itself.
Lending Requirements/Rules
When you come to the library to borrow an Empire Pass, you will have to read and sign a lending agreement. The agreement is as follows:
Must be 18 years old or older.
Must have a library card in good standing.
The Empire Pass can only be checked out on your own card for 7 days at a time with no renewals.
No holds will be placed on Empire Passes.
If the Empire Pass is overdue, you will be charged $5 a day until it is returned upon which all fees must be paid.
You must return the Empire Pass to the front desk- do not return it to the book drop.
If the Empire Pass is lost, damaged, or otherwise returned in an unusable condition you must pay $80 for its replacement.
The Empire Pass can only be checked out and returned to the borrowing library (Community Free Library.) We will not send the passes through interlibrary loans.
Failure to comply with these policies may result in the patron being prevented from using this service in the future.
Other Important Things to Note
Please note there are additional rules for the passes themselves, the library has no control over these rules. Please visit https://parks.ny.gov/admission/empire-passport/ to read all the rules about the passes.
The pass can only be used for one vehicle per park. (Example: You use the pass to get into Hamlin Beach, then hand it over to your friend in the vehicle behind you. Attempting to scan it a second time will not work. Your friend would have to pay the fee.)
The pass only covers parking. It does not waive fees for camping, golf, museum or historical site admission, or any other special events happening at a state park.
